Spend $30, Donate Three Pairs of Shoes, Receive $55 in Sears Credit YMMV

It’s a great time of year to be thinking about other people. In this promotion, it’s definitely a win-win: you can donate three pairs of shoes and earn all of your money in store credit (less tax) back PLUS a $25 bonus in Shop Your Way Rewards. Truth be told, I can’t figure out how they get to $55 (the original post said $40 and that made sense) but no complaints here!

The two items that I’m positive are participating are the Batman and Spiderman shoes.

You’ll notice where it says in yellow “Special Offers…” click the drop down to confirm 100% Back in Points plus a $10 bonus when you spend $30.

Simply add three pairs of shoes and you will earn $40 back in points. See how mine says I’ll earn around $10 back in points? That’s because I have already purchased my $30 worth (it’s a once per member deal.) Yours should show $40! (Edit: I don’t know why it is $55, but yahoo!)

Your points are valid 12/12-12/18 only. Don’t forget to use them! If you don’t have a Sears or Kmart nearby, consider stocking up on paper towels, garbage bags, or other consumables and having them delivered right to your door; shipping is free on $30 purchases. Perfect, right?

If you don’t have time to pick up and donate or don’t have a Sears/Kmart nearby, you can choose “Pick Up In Store” and use Fort Walton Beach, FL (zip code 32548). Use “Unveiled Savings” as the name of the person picking up your order and email me when it’s ready. It would be my privilege to help you participate in this deal.

Happy Holidays!!!!

My Grandmother’s Advice: Color-Coordinated Everything for $2

Technically, this was my mother’s idea…but we had to talk to my grandmother to get the process straight. Apparently, home-dyed “everything” was popular in generations past! Just think of whatever wedding accessory or item you’re looking for in your colors – here’s how to get it in your colors for around $2.

Even though orange wasn’t our wedding color, I had my mind set on Clemson-orange shoes. Do you know how difficult it is to find a quality pair of formal shoes in ORANGE? Despite my expertise in shopping (har har), I struck out in the shoe department. It was my mother who suggested, on a whim, we buy a pair of cream designer heels and dye them…on her kitchen floor, with a couple sponge brushes and zero experience. I included in the photo my Apple red shoes, dyed by David’s Bridal. I think we did a darn good job in comparison, wouldn’t you say?

Ever heard of Rit? Probably not, unless you tye-dyed tshirts at summer camp.

It comes in two forms – powder or liquid – and costs about $2/box or bottle at most craft stores. Use a coupon and it’s even cheaper, but let’s be real…

They’ve done the legwork and published the formulas for hundreds of shades…because you just had to pick some special shade of purple, huh?

The shoes took a couple coats, and maybe could have gone for another, but I got my orange shoes! I was able to choose a comfortable style rather than limit myself to the options in orange (extremely slim…and I didn’t find clubbing shoes with spikes to be wedding appropriate.) You might also consider a long list of other products you could buy in white and dye til your heart’s content (handbags, shawls, hair accessories, sashes, tableclothes and decor). You’ll probably want to put anything that can be washed through a cycle or so to avoid a wedding-day run, or seal in the colors with a product like Scotchguard or Rit’s version.

What do you think? There are dozens of sites with detailed directions, based on what you’re dying. Is there a particular item you haven’t been able to find in “your colors?” Will you try and do it yourself? Please share your story and photos!
